Perfect Pocket Chain Guide

Pocket watch chains are often the next purchase after buying a pocket watch. Nearly all pocket watches come with a chain included, however once you have worn you watch for a while you may wish to choose a chain that better suits your own personal taste.

The chain supplied may not be exactly right for you, it may have come with a clip designed for attaching to either waistcoats or trouser belts. However, here at Holy Sins we also offer T-Bar pocket chains which add a nicer touch to a chain than a standard clip.

Pocket Watch Chain T Bar

T Bar fasteners are the traditional way of attaching the chain to the button hole of a waistcoat, the chain simply passes through the button hole. The T bar remains on the inside of the waistcoat, securing the watch chain and hence it is invisible to the eye and keeps your outfit elegant.

Follow the steps below and find your perfect chain, and if you are still struggling please drop us an email and we will be more than happy to help.

1.  Decide whether you are more interested in a single pocket chain or a double pocket chain, to help you we have included some pictures to make the decision easier.

A popular choice is a Double Albert; a double run of chain travels from the buttonhole to either waistcoat pocket.  This is not to hold two watches, unless you like to keep an eye at what time it is in a different country. But many use this to keep their keys or other small objects.

Single Alberts have one chain and run from the buttonhole to the pocket.

Both versions often have another short run of chain, where you can attach either a photo locket or a fob to add some character to the chain. If you have a look at our wide range you can find fobs in different forms and shapes for example anchors, lockets or crowns.

2. Then you have to decide if you prefer a thicket chain or a finer chain, as we offer both take a look at both and see which suits you best!

Medium and Large Links

If your pocket watch is over 5cm in diameter, then we recommend a chain with large links.
